If you are like many of us scrolling through cute animal videos on the internet, then you have most definitely seen those people who are like raccoon whisperers. It's like these wild trash pandas are like stray cats the adopt off the street! Well, actually, in 13 U.S. states, it's perfectly legal to own a raccoon (here's a map of which states!). That being said, most of the time you adopt these raccoons through designated places you don't just pick a wild one off the branch…
For example, meet Panda! This adorable trash panda is a domesticated raccoon who was properly adopted and raised by their human. He was adopted through a USDA breeder, not taken from the wild, and his human ma made sure to get all the proper paperwork and permits for him. Not to mention to make sure she was ready to commit to 20+ years of caring for a "furry toddler with claws and sharp teeth."
Now, Panda is a famous pet on the internet! His videos are usually just a simple day-in-the-life and show him being wholesomely adorable. It's not common to see a domesticated raccoon living in the household of a regular ole person. That's to say, you can easily find videos from wildlife rescue organizations or videos of people feeding their local wildlife outside. But Panda is a born and raised domesticated, certified sweet bean. We can't get enough of his videos and social media fame and we're excited to see big things from this star-born trash panda!
