When we say that it's important to pay attention to your pet, we really do mean it. Yes, they don't really speak our language, and yes, it might be hard to read the signals they're giving you sometimes, but you still have to pay attention, you still have to do your best. We have seen so many stories at this point of pets saving their humans' lives because the communication between them and their humans was good, and we want to see more of them.
There was the story about the cat who saved a baby from freezing to death by curling around it and calling humans to help. We saw a story about a dog saving its owner from a rattlesnake bite. We even saw - yes - a story about a parrot saving its owner's life from a fire by calling his name. So, it's not the first time we have seen a bird save the life of its human, but it is the first time we have read about it happening like this. And we are thankful.
When we say that pets are amazing, we mean pets are amazing. This one is just amazing on an extra level. We can only imagine the confusion that this babysitter felt when the parrot started panicking and saying this - the amusement she must have felt to hear the parrot ramble, and then the intense fear and following relief and gratitude she felt once she realized just how much she owed this little bird.
It's important to listen to your pets - this is just another small piece of proof for that. When there is something that you need to know about them, they will find a way to tell you about it, it's simply important that you pay attention to them enough to understand their language, to see their warnings.
