You don't even need to be besties with them, if they get you, then they got you. Just like this Redditor we recently stumbled across.
This woman got out of a totally toxic relationship. She not only realized that this guy was scamming her to pay for all his crud, but he was also talking to other women, AND stealing from his own family. So she cut the ties with him and tried to move on. But he was still on her phone plan, and guess what? He even scammed her out of money through that! This was the straw that broke the camel's back. With this, she decided to take revenge. Instead of just trying to let it go, she did some research, found the new girl he was trying to scam, told her every little thing, and BAM, now this guy was alone. She even gave his folks a ring.
