There's no new concept to speed dating, but when it comes to meeting people today, it's not everyone's first thought. Literally everyone is on the dating apps since you have tons of options to choose from and can filter through the criteria you're looking for. Speed dating is a bit more of a leap of faith. You have no idea what your roster for the evening looks like.

I tested out speed dating a couple months ago and went in completely open minded. Overall, it was a fun night out. I brought along two of my girlfriends so it wasn't as awkward waiting around before the event started. We grabbed some wine and the night went fairly smooth. I was stuck with a couple guys who I had zero in common with. One date was so bad that I considered faking I was sick, but the good dates outweighed the bad. If nothing else, it was good practice for future dates.

It's a new year and time to take a chance on a new dating method if you haven't tried it. It's not something I'd do often, but If you have a free evening and want to meet new people, it's a great way to put yourself out there.
