If there's one thing your manager probably hates, it's having more work to do. Whether they're just lazy or already have too much on their plate, chances are pretty good that they won't want to be spending hours combing over your work in addition to what they're already working on. Even the most micromanaging sort will quickly grow tired of the additional work if you can manage to reflect their time-consuming processes back onto them.

So when they try to give you more work to do or try to add in their needless oversight, all you really need to do is ensure this new initiative isn't going to take only more of your time but more of theirs as well. If you manage to do this successfully, you can be sure that this new policy isn't going to stick around for very long.
That's what this worker did when their boss put them on a performance improvement plan after the pair had a disagreement. They weren't letting their boss get off easy, requesting that their manager be the one to provide oversight to their extremely detailed reports on their progress, before quitting once their boss had suitably suffered.
