I have travelled all around the world and this is (fill in the blank) Short "I have travelled all over the world and this is the first time I've been asked for my ID" "I have travelled all over the world and this is the only hotel that authorizes for incedentals" "I have travelled all over the world and this is the coldest pool I've ever swam in"

"I have travelled all over the world and this is the only hotel that doesn't offer free bottled water” "I have travelled all over the world and this is the only time my boss has had to send in a credit card authorization form"

Anytime I hear the title preface I cringe and have to actively try to not roll my eyes. Like something about adding that before saying "I've never been asked to BLANK" makes it worse. What do you guys think? Anyone else deal with these well travelled individuals? What're the kinds of things you hear?

RadioSupply 8 hr. ago I overheard this conversation in a hotel while waiting to check in. Someone was complaining that they'd been all over the world and they'd never been refused to leave a deposit in cash vs card. The desk agent didn't miss a beat - she said (paraphrasing), "It's so interesting to hear about the way things are done all over the

world! Other cultures and conventions are truly fascinating. And as part of our culture here at (hotel), we ask that our guests provide a credit card number for any incidentals rather than inconvenience them by asking for cash.” Reply Share Vote

pepeswife80 · 7 hr. ago Wow. That is one of The nicest & most respectful ways I've ever heard an employee suggest the customer 1) should use his indoor voice and 2) he is most welcome to consume a satchel of Richards. Truly, she should write a customer service book with more subtle ways to tell the worst people to Vote Reply Share

wannabejoanie - 8 hr. ago Honestly my hotel is the first I've ever worked at or heard of that doesn't take an incidental hold. We scan a card on file for OTAs but no Auth. Then my GM wonders why we have so many room damages end up being written off...... Vote Reply Share

Fantastic_Captain - 8 hr. ago Omg yes! Not in hotels anymore but anytime I have a contractor say “I've been doing this for yadda yadda and I've never had to frame it this way" ..are really you going to tell the city when you WILL fail inspection that you've been doing this FoReVeR and still can't read the manual in your hand or don't want to abide by city requirements? Because I want to be there for that

verithanti - 6 hr. ago "I have travelled all over the world and this is the only time my boss has had to send in a credit card authorization form" Funniest example of this that I heard of (but sadly didn't get to witness): The guy's company was one that stayed with us frequently, and *always* sent in a CCA. This guy was new, and hadn't been added to the CCA list yet. Easily

solved. My coworker called the boss, explained the situation, and gave the authorization to add the new guy to the CCA list. Then proceeded to ask my coworker to hand the phone to the new guy. Who then proceeded to get his a se reamed so loudly that my coworker could hear him clearly over a cry mobile phone at least 5 feet away. New guy was a model guest after that. :D Reply Share Vote

pakrat1967 7 hr. ago Tell them you've had guests from all over the world but none of them ever had a problem with any of our hotel policies. Obviously this is a lie, but then so is whatever the guest says about no other hotels treating them this way. Vote Reply Share

ZedzBread 6 hr. ago . I have travelled all around the world and this is the first hotel that's trying to charge me a pet fee! Vote Reply Share

Lollyadverb1984 - 5 hr. ago "I've traveled all over and I've never been asked to pay a pet fee.” Or... "I've traveled all over and never had to pay for my ESA." Always after they've marked "No" on the question "Are you traveling with a pet?" And we've caught them with a pet in their room.

Now, when we call to confirm (as we do with every reservation), we ask them if they're traveling with a dog. At that time we add it to the res and explain the pet fees. Over the phone. Before they arrive. Vote Reply Share
