"Lady, this land has been ours for 110 years..."

Karen wants us to keep neighbours off her property, and ours.

So we've just got a new Karen next door this week, as we found out at about 7am this morning when she came storming up our driveway with the fury of 1,000 middle class white women. In our neighborhood most of the properties are subdivided and Karen has moved into the house at the bottom of the property next to ours, and she has so complaints for our manager (my mum):

The tenants at the house at the bottom of the driveway have backed their car onto her property on one occasion while getting the car out. Okay, so tell them... The tradesman restoring the shed behind the bottom house also backed onto her property. Again, we don't have control over where he drives, We can tell him if we see him, but so can you Karen.

The neighbours on THE OTHER SIDE of her property from us have also backed onto her property. LADY WE DON'T EVEN KNOW THEM WHY ARE YOU COMPLAINING TO US. Additionally she has informed us that our driveway extends 1m onto her property and that a tree that is in the middle of our yard in also on her property and she is having it removed, and that

the driveway has to be ripped up. When she was presented with the land surveys from 1993 she started informing us that the property lines changed when the previous owner sold the house to us... My great grandmother purchased the land we are on in 1913, it was the first lot of land sold in the suburb, our family have lived here continuously for 110 years. The property has never been sold. The lines of the property have never changed. If you are going to lie, Karen, learn who you are lying to firs

Buffhole OP 4 hr. ago She backed off a bit after that, but honestly I don't trust her to stick with it, she mostly just got flustered that she had been called out. 45 Reply Share

CoveCreates 6 hr. ago Oh lord. I hate to tell you but it's just going to get worse. Install cameras so when she does something batshit you'll have evidence. I'm so sorry. Karen neighbors are the worst. 111 Reply Share Buffhole OP 4 hr. ago Already been looking at getting a camera set up to protect my bike, and it won't be much struggle to get the tree and driveway in the same frame. Jazstar 6 hr. ago If you have a camera lying around I'd point it at that tree. Good chance she tries to get it taken down regardless! Then you can do some ~tree law~ 83 Reply Share Ecstatic-Cry2069 - 5 hr. ago The subreddit I didn't know I needed, and now love dearly. 12 Reply Share

razamatazzz 5 hr. ago Make it clear she is not allowed to remove that tree in writing so it will be even easier to show her intent in court 36 Reply Share Buffhole OP 4 hr. ago The tree is actually a variety of endangered ironbark, so even to prune some branches requires a lot of permits and environmental agency approval. If she actually pulls something and we get footage of it she is out a minimum of $120k. 35 Reply Share

Christopher3712 · 6 hr. ago Oh, she's going to be a forever problem. Yikes. I sincerely wish you the best of luck. Brz 30 Reply Share Buffhole OP 3 hr. ago It's a shame that some of the more recent implants into the community have this super insular "this is my property" attitude. The reason people were backing into the property is because the previous residents basically told everyone they could.

When I was a kid there were basically no fences here, and we would go from backyard to backyard gathering up our friends and playing outside, and even people without kids would just smile and wave as kids ran past having fun outdoors away from traffic, but then everyone moving in started throwing up fences and barbed wire, getting aggressive about "trespassing" 7 year olds, and generally being anti-social. The worst part is the same people if you run into them in a semi-social situation are the

tretower424 5 hr. ago . Get a lawyer to send her a letter. That should shut her up and clarify things. Property disputes are the #1 real estate issue. She is trying to intimidate you into giving up some land. Don't let her get away with it. ↑ 17 ↓ Reply Share

Buffhole OP 3 hr. ago Not sure if she is renting or if she bought the property next to us, but the one her house is on doesn't belong to us but has been chopped up to be sold off as two properties. We kept our block of land as one so we could keep access, and because the house we are renting out down the bottom was built by my grandfather back in the day, and my grandmother used to live there until she passed away a few years back. 5 ↓ Reply Share

Kosti Palama 2 hr. ago She will most likely lay low a bit, then find a someone on Craigslist that is looking for extra work to cut down the tree. Then she get her will through and can blame others for not knowing the rules and regulations. Reply Share ↑ 1
