My job called a wellness check on me for quitting. The other day, I quit my toxic job via text message. I left a detailed message about the reason why (or at least the lie that I had to take care of a family matter) and told them that I am disabling the number I used for that job so if they can't reach me that is why. I clearly communicated my departure so there's no way for them to think I'm ill or in danger. But they're trying to text me after I specifically said not to and threatening to call

I don't want to contact them because I don't want them to know my business, nor do I want them to try and persuade me to come back or make me feel bad for leaving after "everything they've done for me" which I 100% know they're going to say because they're fake as . I already told them everything they need to know. That's it. Bye. I've already had wellness kick my door in once over a false call and it was really traumatizing for me and I'm just like why the does every toxic person resort to call

Anyways this was just a vent but it's so immature the lengths that employers will go to in order to beg for a great employee that they mistreated to come back. Like you didn't appreciate me while I was there and now you want to pretend like I'm a "valuable asset to the team." Be fr.

Edit: For the record I'm not trying to sue anyone or get the law involved, I just want to be left alone. I'm pretty chill and won't have anything against you if you just let me be but it's the fact that they went this far over something little is what me. I'm not blaming them for anything, just calling out their weird behavior.

Patriae8182 20 hr. ago The easiest solution here is to call the non-emergency line for your local police/sheriff's department, or go in person and pay them a visit.

Let them know that due to a dispute over you quitting your workplace, they may call in a false wellness check for your address. In most cases, they can flag the address in their dispatch system so if they get any 911 calls regarding your home, they will see that note and will likely disregard the wellness check. It's possible an officer/deputy stops by or gives you a call.

Especially if you have proof such as text messages or voicemails, you shouldn't have any issues with your local PD. They usually like getting told they can ignore nuisance calls about a specific location, because it saves them from kicking down someone's door for no reason which then equals paperwork. 789 Share

itaukeimushroom OP. 19 hr. ago I didn't know this and really appreciate this tip. I just called them and the woman on the phone said unfortunately they can't do that here in DC, but I can refuse their entry if they do show up. I had my social worker call them again and they're backing off for now but I'm afraid they'll do it on a day where I'm not prepared. 455 Share

Ippus_21 19 hr. ago You have, in writing, that they threatened to call a wellness check on you. If the cops do show up, tell them you're fine and show them the text. Let your former employer get fined for abusing the system. 282 Share

Garzhvog86 21 hr. ago take the text message down to the court house and file for a restraining order against the sender. get on record with the court that you are perfectly fine and do not wish to be contacted by this person any more. If after this they try to weaponize the police against you you will have a paper trail with the court noting a pattern of harassment. 166 Share ...

18+5 tcavallo 19 hr. ago Sounds like a passive aggressive action under the guise of "we were just worried". One of my past employers called the police on an employee after she was around an hour late. She was extremely sick and overslept, her fault, but she didn't expect the cops to show up at her house.

DrTwitch 19 hr. ago Before you do anything you need to realise this poor behaviour from your boss is indicative of a stroke. Someone needs to make sure he's safe. If you see to that we can help you with the rest

MuchDevelopment7084 16 hr. ago The police need to be notified of this. It's not good for you; and a waste of time and resources for the police. They won't take kindly to your former employer using them to you.

oldbaldad 19 hr. ago Screenshot and print the exchange with work then post it on your front door. If you DO get a knock, explain to the cops they're being used by the business to harass you. Calmly offer to answer whatever questions the cops may have by telephone. Explain that you don't want your community's police Services being commandeered by these petty office politics.
