Secret Scientific Expedition To Deep Sea Reveals Never Seen Before Fish And A Kaleidoscope Of Colors (Pictures & Comments)

We're a little afraid of the ocean, but don't judge us, okay? We just don't really understand what resides down there. You never know what new kind of jellyfish or crazy creature from the depths might just be waiting to gobble you up. But, this is why we explore, to find new things! And it turns out that there is still a lot to find - the scientists behind this expedition estimate 100+ new species of fish and marine life could be found off the Chilean coast.

Scientists explored an underwater mountain off the coast of Chile (and the mountain is 4x taller than the world's tallest building!) finding a myriad of new fish and ocean life.     rawrszn Researchers exploring underwater mountains off the Chilean coast made an incredible discovery, finding more than 100 new marine species, including coral, lobsters, and sea urchins, at a depth of 1388 meters. To capture these unique species, cameras and a robot were used.

    The expedition covered a vast area of about 20,400 square miles (52,800 square kilometers) of ocean, from Chile to Rapa Nui (Easter Island). This journey unveiled the largest underwater mountain, which is about four times the size of the world's tallest building. Despite this exciting find, it's important to recognize that only about a quarter of the global seafloor has been mapped so far.
