What are we looking for when we sign up for a profile? Some people want a long term relationship, some people want a hookup, and there are several people in between who can't quite put their finger on what it is they want. This is also fine, it's not always a given what you're looking for and it's okay to flow with the waves of life.

Or even to go back over old messages we sent people, and cringe and laugh at our attempts at flirting or engagement with people who maybe weren't so interested.
