    No Room For You!
  • 03
Many moons ago when I was a Night Auditor at a Milton property, I had someone who I was good with ask me if I could get them a discounted room on a certain date in a certain area.
  • 04
Now let me preface this: This was not something I did for just any and everyone. My thought process on this was: "If I have to think twice, I think not!"
  • 05
So I did my search and I found a room at B property, at C Rate, on D Date. And it was $40 below the Regular rate.
  • 06
So I get the info back to the person and she says out loud, "Is there anyway you get it lower than that?
  • 07
Internally I'm thinking, no!", but what I actually said was "That's the discounted rate. It's what it is."
  • 08
She then said, "Let me get back to you" At that point, it was out of sight and out of mind. I wasn't making any money off of this and I didn't need the room.
  • 09
(Fast forward to about 4 days before D Date) She hits me up and asks me if the room was still available.
  • 10
Now I already knew that I wasn't gonna do it, but I went to look just out of curiosity sake and then I started smiling.
  • 11
Not only was the C rate for D Date no longer available, but B property was completely sold out! In fact, the entire city was sold out!
  • 12
I let her know this and she starts panicking, which wasn't a concern of mine. When she asks me what happened, I told her "You said
  • 13
that you were going to get back to me, but you never did. So I didn't book it." She replies, "Well, why didn't you remind me?!!"
  • 14
My response: "You're grown and I'm not chasing you down when you ASKED ME for the favor!" She says, "So what can you do now?"
  • 15
Me: "Nothing. That city is sold out. I hope you can make it work." Yeah, I still get a kick out of that one!

    • Bont_Tarentaal · 2 days ago But... what is the main function of a pawnshop? If I go to a pawnshop and find a working Wii (or anything else that I like) and the price is good, of course I'm gonna buy it. Silly people.
