‘I sneezed and my back swore at me’: Gen X cringes over the realization that they're not young anymore

When you're a kid, you feel like you'll never grow old. Looking at your parents and the grouchy old librarians at school with their wire-rimmed glasses and grey frazzled hair made your vitality seem infinite. But then as the decades pass and our knees begin to creak, we're faced with the everlasting realization: We're getting old!

So even though your band tees are washed to perfection and our taste in fine dining has gone through the roof, we're not the young chaps we used to be. Although it's inevitable, every aging person has a moment where they feel like they are finally laying their youth to rest–what's your moment?

Was it when your high school ankle injury started to ache in the cold of wintery mornings? Was it when you started hearing your favorite rebellious tunes playing in the grocery store at 10 am? Or was it when you started yelling at teenagers on the road to drive more safely? Funny thing is, even though we're no longer kids anymore, most of us Gen Xers are glad for it.
