If you go to a beach, you bring sunscreen, and if you go camping, you bring a tent. So why do so many hikers choose to trek miles and miles up a mountain wearing flip-flops? That's the same type of tourist who sees a 15-mile hike noted for its difficult terrain, and decides to hike it alone, armed with only a granola bar and a portable radio.

As a tourist in a foreign land, it's easy to make mistakes. But a lot of people shared their concerns around these inconsiderate visitors littering or otherwise disrespecting the environment.
