Taking our cats to the vet is always a hard thing to do. Our cats are stressed, we are stressed, which only makes our cats more stressed. Our cats hide at the vet's office. Our cats get the cone of shame for being little hooligans at the vet's office, which only pisses them off and makes them even bigger hooligans. It's a mess. It's hard for everyone, and we just wish for it to pass quickly and for our cats to be healthy.
Going to the vet with your cat is always emotionally difficult as it is, so really, we don't need any other stress factors on top of that. Which is what makes this interaction between a cat owner and their boss so much more infuriating. How can someone be so self-important to think that a pajama party at work is more important than taking your cat to the vet during an emergency?

Malice or incompetence – that is always the question that we have when we see stories like this. Is it even possible for someone to be so evil that they can't allow their employee to be a little late to a pajama party when their pet is having an emergency? We suppose that it is possible. We just prefer to believe that human beings – all of them – are better than this.
Maybe this boss is just unaware. Maybe they have never had pets. Maybe they don't like animals and don't care and think that their work is far more important. We want to believe the best in them, and yet… even with all the aforementioned things, we think that you should still be able to sympathize, so… it seems that this is yet another case of a boss being awful. Mostly though, we just hope the kitty is okay.
