Maybe you date for a couple years, get engaged for another, and boom, you're ready to settle and tie the knot. Dating for 7 years without being married is just…a little childish. Either say I do, or walk away and say I don't. Don't stand there with cold feet for almost a decade. 

But some people do postpone, draw out, and linger on their engagement. A certain amount of precision and assiduous decision making may be helpful, but 7 years is just too long. 

Coalescing this unearthly timeline with your fiancé's mother's heedy opinion of your wedding, well I would be fed up as well. We all want a man who treats his mom well, but when he adheres too much to the phrase 'mama's boy' then there's nothing less attractive.
