'He told my manager I need to fix my tone’: Male tech employee complains about female coworker's ‘tone’ to manager, then demands she communicate over video calls instead of email

Being a woman in tech is hard, but being the only woman on your team in tech is something else. You get used to the condescending looks and lines such as 'You sure you can handle it?' or 'Here, let me help you out', and the infamous 'You're being aggressive' when all you're being is… assertive. You would think men had more of a backbone but it turns out, they do not. An obligatory 'Not all men' of course, but yeah, some of them, or even a lot of them happen to be in tech. It's frustrating trying to make your way up when you're constantly being looked down on. When you have to put in more effort to come across as competent.

This woman told her story on r/womenintech, explaining how one of her male coworkers had told her manager she was being 'too aggressive'. She wanted a paper trail in case he continued to bash her character, but didn't know how to go about it. Women in tech were quick to chime in and offer advice.
