When we name our pets, we do it out of love. We give our pets the cutest names we can think of, names that will make us aww and smile for the rest of time. We do not think of the long term consequences of doing such a thing. What's the worst that could happen? Our parents not quite remembering Mr. Schmoopy Pants' full name? That's okay. But that's not the worst that could happen. Not at all. Which brings us here.
Giving your pet a silly name has consequences. For other purrfessionals. Because while you may think that Mr. Schmoopy Pants is a funny name, which it is, your pet's pharmacist is going to have to sign off on that name. And that's hilarious. What? We said giving them funny names has consequences, not that those consequences are bad ones and that you should not do it. Pshh.

You know, we actually encourage people to name their pets the silliest names pawssible for moments exactly like this. You may think that it's silly to work to become a pharmacist only to end up having to deal with this all day long, but we have a feeling that every time this happens, a pharmacist somewhere out there in the world smiles.
The best thing about names like these is that outsides really have no way of making the correct assumption. With Meatball Williams at least you realize that it's a name. A mailman would probably come to the right conclusion that it's a pet. But Tomato Soup… might be the name of our next cat.
