Similar to black cats, black dogs have gotten stuck with the "bad omen" reputation, even though they're just as sweet as any canine friend.
In ancient mythology, black dogs were often related to the underworld or bringers of bad luck. Unfortunately, even though we as humans have evolved to be more factual, we can't seem to shake some superstitions. So black dogs, similar to black cats, oftentimes get overlooked the most when it comes to getting adopted. People think they are bad luck or simply look scary, but really, they can be just as sweet and maybe even sweeter than any other dog! And if you dove deeper into this folklore you seem to be following, you would see that most times, black dogs were actually good creatures. Sure, they might have been a sign of de@th, but only because they were there to accompany you to the afterlife. But even if you do believe in that, you should not associate every single black dog with folklore. Dogs are dogs, sweet and loyal, big small, young old, and they will love you unconditionally no matter what. So let's appreciate these underappreciated puppers!
