Think I'm homeless because of they way I dressed? Have fun waiting outside

We rented out an airbnb in neighbouring city to spend the weekend there. It was in an apartment complex and the only way you could get in was through a fob key. There were two entrances, one from outside that took you into a vestibule and the second was from the vestibule into the lobby of the building.

My friend (26F) and I (25F) went downstairs to s ke, we were wearing hoodies and sweatpants and stayed under the building canopy as it was raining. These two older ladies (mid-40s) that lived there were trying to go into the building and were giving us some pretty dirty looks. They were whispering to themselves in french (thinking we couldn't understand) and said something about us being homeless). My friend and I were done S king and wanted to head inside too. Someone was coming out of the buil

to go in at the same time. Well the two older ladies went in and tried shoving us back out (thinking we were trespassing) and aggressively closed the door behind them. My friend and I were in utter disbelief. I understand that they probably weren't used to us being around and didn't believe we were staying there but they could have just been polite and asked if we had a fob.

Anyway, we used the fob and got into the vestibule. They seemed to be fumbling around for their keys (they didn't have to use it coming in because they intersected with someone coming out of the building). It seemed like they had forgotten their keys upstairs and I could tell they were panicking. My friend and I used the fob again and got into the building, they

looked absolutely baffled and guess what we did? We got in and closed the door behind us. They were too embarrassed to ask us to let them in and continued to fumble around for their keys. My friend and I wished them a goodnight in french and went upstairs.

    • • Cute Kitten9434 9 hr. ago · edited 9 hr. ago Perfect. It reminds me of when I was on the bus in my 20's and a couple of volleyball cheerleader type girls (beautiful, thin, put together but not nice like most volleyball players or cheerleaders I've met) were up front behind the driver speaking French (French immersion students in my area have an air of entitlement as they are bilingual while many of us only speak one language).

A lady gets of the bus and she looks like she is having a rough day, carrying many bags with clothes (like maybe she had been kicked out of her home? But I don't know at all) and sits across but down a little from the VB girls. They immediately launch into a string of French, while not being fluent you can tell someone is s t talking someone -

r de is r de in every language especially with their expressions etc. after a few stops the rough looking lady gets up to get off and she rips them a new one in French on her way out. Don't be r de, you're not the only person who speaks French.

rfccrypto. 5 hr. ago Nobody should be airbnbing their apartment if one of the features of the building is a secure (ish) entrance. It's a thing to do, letting random people go in and out so you can make a living doing. nothing. The other people in the building don't deserve that.

Then she found out they were DOCTORS from THE CITY and practically begged them to see it. Yeah, no They bought a house down the street. Better lot, on the river.

_fairywren 5 hr. ago I used to work in an upscale wine store and restaurant in an expensive area by the ocean. Half our customers were some of the richest people in the city. Often they were wearing polo shirts, board shorts and boat shoes or thongs (flip flops, not g strings). We would never judge a person's economic status by their clothes.

Prestigious_Ad2969 · 8 hr. ago . True story. Many years ago I was at a building in Manchester UK city center that held theatre rehearsal rooms. An old man with long grey hair and beard and dirty rain. mac came stumbling through the front doors and into the lobby, he reeked of urine and al hol and was definitely the worse for wear. So I approached him as tactfully as I

could and said "Sorry mate but they're not going to let you in here, you're going to have to leave." The dr ken old man replied "I'm Richard Harris". We let him in, I recognized him as soon as he said it but I genuinely thought he was a homeless guy. Poor guy had a lot of problems, and talent.

Lucky_Farmer_793 · 4 hr. ago When the office dress code relaxed, my programmer friend began dressing a bit more casually. One day, while waiting at an intersection, someone in a car mistook him for a panhandler and handed him cash. He was so confused! Needless to say, he decided to upgrade his wardrobe after that.

Corpuscular_Ocelot • 3 hr. ago These people don't know you and have never seen you before. They may have been in calling you himeless, but you shouldn't follow people into buildings like that. They SHOULD be shutting the door on you if they don't know who you are.

NoHeat7014. 9 hr. ago I forgot my FOB once when I took my dog out late at night. There was someone walking in when and I asked them to hold the door for me. He said I'm not letting you in we have to many porch pirates and let the door close behind him. Walked to the door next door where you can put in a code to let you in. I was really hoping to see that fella inside the building after I walked in but didn't.
