Being the stepmother comes with a lot of baggage. 

Although every family is different, the 'evil stepmother' trope is simple, villainizing, and all too common. But occasionally, there are heroic stepmothers out there who aren't just the stepmothers to the kiddos, but they're the mothers who stepped up. 

One woman recently proved her good stepmother antics when she was faced with a difficult decision at the hands of the biomom. Absentee, lying, and a hostile woman, the biomom tried to inch and claw her way into her daughter's life–which some would argue is better than nothing. But the stepmother wasn't troubled by the biomom's desire to be involved; things only got tense when the biomom tried to steal the 'mom' position at the girl's recital, stomping all over a wholesome activity that the stepmother had cultivated with her stepdaughter for months. 

However, some women are more capable of taking the high road, which is exactly what this selfless stepmother did. To avoid causing stress for her stepdaughter, she stepped down from the backstage mom position, giving the biomom a chance to support her hobbies as she had. Don't drive a wedge between them, and make sure your step-daughter knows you still love and support her. DON'T ALIENATE HER FROM MOM.
