Hating AI makes you sound old and out of touch: 'It’s here, right now. So either hop on or get left behind'

“The Internet Is Dead”

I’ll never forget coming across a headline back in the late '90s that declared, “The Internet is Dead!”. And it wasn’t just a one-off; it felt like everywhere I looked, people and newspapers were shouting the same thing.  “The internet’s a fad,” they said, “It's a failed experiment!” “Yes, it has promise, but it's too awkward, too slow, and frankly not something most people would ever actually use on a daily basis.”

Well, we all know how that turned out. Not only did the internet endure, it consumed everything: our work, our relationships, our entertainment, and pretty much every other aspect of modern life. Is that a good thing? I'm not here to judge, but it’s undeniable that the internet has become so essential that we can’t even imagine a world without it. And this is far from the only time we’ve seen this.

When social media started blowing up, people dismissed it as a silly waste of time (and it is, but still a huge part of our lives). And now, the exact same thing is happening with AI.

Especially in the past few years, it feels like we've all been drowning in buzzwords and overhyped ideas. Cryptocurrency was presented as a revolution that would transform finance, but let's be honest: it unsurprisingly turned out to be a pyramid scheme for tech bros trying to strike it rich. Then came the metaverse, the stupid, stupid metaverse, a huge, flashy idea so ambiguous that it was essentially a blank canvas for tech titans to throw billions of dollars on as if it was a Jackson Pollock painting, but all we actually got was some underwhelming VR demos and overly hopeful concept art.

The thing is, most of us weren't buying it. Crypto was way too risky for the average person, and the metaverse tried to sell something that no one seemed to be interested in buying.

AI is different. It’s not just another buzzword or a lofty promise of what might happen someday. It’s here, right now, making a real impact on actual, real people. It’s changing how we work, and it's opening doors I never thought even existed (What do you mean I can feed it a PDF of a boring lecture, and it can turn it into a podcast of two people talking about the subject? That's insane!) AI isn’t just a trend—it’s tangible, undeniable, and already weaving itself into the fabric of our daily lives.

Everybody hates AI

And, yet, people hate AI, and it’s not just a casual dislike—it’s deep, gut-level anger. You see it everywhere. Someone posts a piece of art or a random image, and as soon as it’s revealed to be AI-generated, people lose it. Understandably, they feel duped, like something authentic has been stolen from them.

And it's no wonder why. AI was supposed to take care of the dull stuff—the repetitive, soul-sucking tasks, the ones we don't want to do so we’d have more time for the good things: creating art, writing music, dreaming up stories. It was supposed to be leading us toward utopia, But instead, AI jumped straight into making art and writing stories, straight into the things we cherish most, the things that feel uniquely human. It’s unsettling like it’s invading our territory, which feels personal and wrong.

But here’s the hard truth: standing there, arms crossed, shouting “I hate AI!” isn’t going to stop this virtual train. AI is no longer some distant sci-fi dream. It’s here. Now. Reshaping the world we live in... The world YOU live in. So you can either embrace it and figure out how to use it to your advantage or dig your heels in and get left behind, shaking your fist like an old man yelling at clouds. The world is moving forward—whether you like it or not.

And here’s the wild part: we’re just scratching the surface. This is just the first baby step. AI right now is the worst it's ever going to be. Like the internet in the late ’90s, it's basic, clunky, slow, and most of all, alien. Back then, no one could’ve dreamed of a world where the internet would weave itself into every aspect of our lives, connecting people, ideas, and spreading conspiracy theories like wildfires. But the pioneers who saw its potential built the tools, platforms, and ecosystems that define modern life shaping the internet into what it is today.

AI is standing at that same crossroads. Sure, the tools we have now are simple—impressive, but still very basic. Yet the possibilities are mind-blowing. This isn’t just about creating pretty pictures or automating emails. It’s about fundamentally rethinking how we live our lives. What does your life look like when you have the world's smartest person in your pocket? Not a search engine, an intelligence smarter than all of us combined. It's going to change everything. And here’s the best part: it’s not too late to get in on this.

You don’t need to be a tech genius or have some special insight to start exploring AI... You just need curiosity and the willingness to dive in. Learn the tools. Experiment. Try new things… because this is shaping up to be bigger than the internet, bigger than anything we’ve seen before. The question isn’t if AI will reshape the world—it’s who will be leading the way when it does.
