Greig’s passion for senior dog rescue began shortly after his beloved dog named Wolfgang passed away.
Although he has always owned at least two or three dogs, the passing of his little miniature Pinscher hit him hard. "I was just so distraught about [that death]," Greig, an accountant, told The Dodo website. "A month or two went by, and I still felt so horrible about it. I decided that the only way I would feel better was if something good happened that probably wouldn't have happened if he had not died."

Fortunately, Greig lives on a farm in Colorado where there is plenty of room for a whole bunch of animals, not just senior dogs for adoption.

So he went to his local animal shelter in Denver to search for a special dog to help him get over Wolfgang’s loss. There, he asked the shelter’s staff to show him the “oldest, least likely to be adopted dog there.”
So they introduced him to a 12-year-old Chihuahua named Eeyore. This adorable little guy was not just elderly. Eeyore also had bad knees and a heart murmur, which made him the perfect candidate for Greig's request.

But Eeyore’s adoption wasn’t the end of Greig’s search for a new companion. In fact, it was just the beginning.
One by one, Greig brought home other elderly canines. In the end, he adopted seven other senior pets in need of a loving family.

Luckily for us, Greig is big on sharing pictures of his unique household on Instagram (wolfgang2242), so we all get a chance to enjoy a little senior-style “cuteness overload.”

And what these pictures show is that these “old animals” are definitely just as adorable as a puppy or a young dog.
