Dogs are the best. They bring us joy and peace and unconditional love. But life as a dog… it can be ruff. And we, as their hoomans, have to acknowledge it. So many things can be scary. Thunderstorms can be scary for dogs, and fireworks can be scary for dogs, and sometimes, cats are scary too, because cats shamelessly steal dogs' beds for no reason at all. Life can be ruff for a dog, and that's okay. It's okay to take a step back and have an existential crisis every once in a while, before we go back to our usual selves.
So, we are not going to shame Alfie. Alfie needed to have an existential crisis because ladders are scary and mops are scary, and being stuck between them is extra scary. We understand Alfie. We relate. And so did the rest of the internet.

'Stand between the two and whine'… oh, Alfie. We both feel incredibly bad for this sweet puppy, and we hope that he managed to get out of that situation with minimum trauma. But we also laugh. We laugh because we understand.
