This cat that you have chosen to take care of and to invest in. It's your cat. Well, it's not. And you know that is true. You did not choose this cat, your cat chose you.

Yup, that's how it works. The cat distribution system only works in one direction. You may think that humans adopt their cats, but in fact, the system has made it so that cats adopt humans. And the humans simply have no choice in the matter. What happens is that over time, your cat uses its meowgical powers to make you think that you adopted it, but the system… continues running smoothly.

It is actually a known fact among all of us cat connoisseurs that the vast majority of cat ownerships happen in this way. It is not us, in most cases, who adopt the cats. It is the cats who adopt their humans, and the humans in question are simply left with no choice but to adopt them.

"Tracked us down and applied to be our cat" is a very good description of this situation, but it's not quite accurate in our opinion. There was no "applying" happening. There was no process of interviews. The cat chose you, and that was it.
