Star Trek is one of the few TV shows from the 60s that has stood the test of time. We like to think that this was a golden age of television, with shows like Batman and The Mary Tyler Moore Show making huge waves, but in truth, those are some of the only ones we remember. Months before Star Trek's first episode aired, NBC was airing a show called My Mother The Car. It followed a man whose late mother had reincarnated into a vintage car and talked to him through the car's radio. Shockingly, this only lasted one modest season and doesn't have any cultural impact besides going viral on Twitter every once and a while. Unlike gimmicky shows of the 60s like The Flying Nun or I Dream of Jeanie, Star Trek is a timeless premise within a timeless show, and it'll be enjoyed for years to come, including through Star Trek memes.
