Every workplace has that one person who's a stickler for the rules and can take the fun out of any situation. If that person is just your coworker who loves to ask why you're five minutes late to work, you can just ignore that nosy person. But when it's your boss, you've got to grit your teeth and do as they say, which u/KLCTH knows all too well.
Having a boss who micromanages you can really get you down. Especially if you're the type of employee who puts a lot of effort into their job, having your boss scold you for being late or leaving a few minutes early makes you feel demoralized. It makes it seem like all of your hard work isn't being recognized, and the only thing your manager cares about is how many actual minutes you're working each day. If a manager values quantity over quality, well, that's what they're asking for and that's what they'll get. Would they rather have a dedicated employee work hard for seven hours and leave early, or a burnt-out lazy employee spend eight hours doing nothing? Bosses like that will always prefer the latter---to their own detriment.
Up next, these home installation workers have seen a thing or two during house visits, like one person who was surprised when "A chicken walks out of the back room."
