Tech Hype vs Real Life

It happened a million times. Everyone thought the world would end in the year 2.000 because computers wouldn't 'know' what to do. Then we thought it would end in 2.012 because of some weird ancient prediction.

Even before that, people thought electricity was evil and something to be wary of. They thought recorded music would replace live performances; they thought cinema would end theater. Plot twist! None of that happened.

Those amazing, brand-new, cutting-edge technologies, sooner rather than later, faded into the background of ordinary life. They became daily tools, things that we could use to make our lives easier, and nothing more. We stopped morally judging their use, and it became normal to use a washing machine instead of our own hands, freeing ourselves from the extra hours we used to spend on household chores.

I agree with the person who wrote this post because I think our general fear around Artificial intelligence is just the natural hype around a new technology. It's a mix of a natural fear and a not-so-natural one created by very calculated marketing schemes designed to make us afraid of AI's all-encompassing power so we think it's greater than it is.

I'm not a tech scientist, and this prediction is based on pure intuition, so you're allowed to distrust me, but I think AI will become like an enhanced version of what Google used to be, and we will use it for that and for summaries in general. In contrast, and this is what I like most, I think being a good writer will become a commodity. Having a voice, being creative in general, doing something a machine can do will be the future's most powerful differentiator, so give it up for those who studied art or humanities! Lol
