There are so, so many wrong stereotypes about cats out there. People think that cats are aloof toward anyone and everyone, when in reality, we know that it just takes them a while to warm up to some people. People think that cats don't care about us and only tolerate us because we give them food, when in reality, we know that cats love their humans so, so much. People think that cats don't show affection to their humans, when in reality, cats do show affection, they just do it in… interesting ways sometimes.
All of that stuff is untrue, and we know it simply because we have cats. "But how do you know that your cat actually loves you?" It's simple. We know it because a- we pay attention, and we learn the ways that they show affection to us. And b- because our cats are always there for us when we need them the most. Always.

People who say that cats are generally unaffectionate have never had a cat actually love them. Because when they love you, cats make sure that you know it. They might not be all over you all the time, but when you actually need them, they are there for you. Always.
And clearly, this cat knew that it was needed. For real. For all we know, this cat might have literally saved your life that day. It loves you, and you obviously love it. Because if you didn't, you would have taken it off your lap and gone on about your business. But you stayed. And we wish you both many happy and healthy years together.
