Woman spends $45 on burgers every week to help out pregnant sister, husband lashes out: 'Does she micromanage how you spend your money?'

Helping out a family member financially can be a difficult situation to navigate. You want to be helpful and generous if you can, but it can be hard to know where to draw the line. Because once you get money involved, it's a different ballgame. Feelings can easily get hurt and debts can easily remain unpaid. That's why it's an excellent idea to help in ways other than money. 

If someone in your family is an overwhelmed mother, a great way to help is to come over and do the dishes and clean the house. If someone in your family is ill, you can take over a hot meal so they and their caretakers have one less thing to worry about. If someone's struggling financially, you can support their business. It's less direct than just giving them money, but there is much less likely to go wrong. Plus, you usually get something out of it too. But one woman's husband did not see it that way and had it out with his wife because of it.
