Rep. Bobby Rush (D-IL) was ordered to leave the House floor this morning after he removed his suit jacket to reveal a hoodie while addressing the chamber on the issue of racial profiling in the wake of the Trayvon Martin case.
Rush, with hood up, said, "Just because someone wears a hoodie does not make them a hoodlum," referring to notorious hoodie-wearer Geraldo Rivera's controversial remarks about Trayvon.
Republican speaker pro tem Gregg Harper (R-MS), cut Rush off and ordered him to lower his hood or leave the chamber, finding him in violation of a rule that bans the wearing of hats on the House floor.
In other hoodie news, the National Rifle Association has taken advantage of the media firestorm around the sweatshirts to add a new "Concealed Carry Hoodie" -- "ideal for carrying your favorite compact to mid-size pistol" -- to the official NRA Store.
