Sibling Sparks Family Drama by Gifting $500 to One Sister's Wedding and Only $100 to Other Sister Who Eloped: 'I thought it would be understood that the situations were different'
When someone is married, it's customary that you get them a gift, especially if you were invited to the wedding. Weddings aren't cheap, so in addition to congratulating the happy couple with a special gift, it also serves as a thank you for hosting a grand party and paying for your food and drinks. Or so this brother thought. He, his wife, and two kids were invited to his sister's grand wedding. He later found out that his kids were charged the same price as the adults, regardless of what they ate. The brother, having paid for his own wedding himself, knew how expensive this was. So, he gifted his sister $500 to cover the costs of his family's meals, as well as his gift to the newlyweds. But when his other sister got married next, they decided to elope, just the two of them, and didn't have a big fancy party with family and friends. So, her brother thought he adjusted his gift accordingly, but not everyone was on the same page.
