Couple Adopts a Goofy, Floofy, Deaf Maine Coon Kitten for Their Ragdoll Cat After Their Previous Cat Passes, the Two Become Instant Friends

We know that cats are purrfecion. That's a simple fact. It's inarguable. But there is one thing out there that is more purrfect that one cat… it's two cats. It's bonded cat pairs. Duh. Because double the cats means double the trouble. It means double the cuteness. Double the silliness, double the fun, double the knick-knacks kicked off our shelves. It's double the purrfection. We purrsonally think that every cat owner should consider a second cat, and if they can, they should get one. 

The only worry we would have in that scenario is… will the cats get along? How long will it take for them to connect, if ever? We would be devastated if we got a second cat and it wasn't accepted by our first. But that's not the case here. Here, these two cats became instant friends, proving to their owners, and to everyone else, once and for all, that disability does not stop cats from living their best lives.

    It's almost never a bad idea to adopt a deaf cat, definitely not if you're worried specifically about the deafness. If we have learned anything throughout our time writing for ICHC, it's the deafness is the last thing that would stop a cat from being chaotic and having fun and living life to the fullest.

    "All ears and deaf" is definitely an accurate description for this kitty. We cannot wait to see what this beauty looks like when he grows up. Does he grow into his ears or do they remain massive? How big will he get? He's going to overtake the ragdoll in size for sure, and we cannot wait to see the tables turn.

    Hello, We found an adorable kitten but it is deaf. We also have a 10 month old rag doll, who mainly we want an extra cat just as a friend and to help him when we are at work during the day.

    I have two concerns: 1. breeder wants $2850, this seems high for a dead cat even if a purebred. Am I wrong here? 2. the deafness will cause conflict with the current cat, he may or may not understand why the Maine coon won't respond? Any tips or tricks? Or just get a normal coon with working ears ③

    ISEGaming 19 days ago All kitties deserve love. It really depends on if you're willing to go forward and understand that you can easily startle the deaf cat if approaching from outside her view. Another cat could be good if they're the same age, different ages can also be good but really depends on the temperament of the other cat. As for price, that's way too much.

    The ragdoll is lazy and dumb, he loved our old cat who recently passed. I think he will be fine, just not sure about a dead friend for him.

    Ended up getting the kitty. Handled the 2 hour car ride great. Slept in my lap the entire way.

    So far he's doing great. My 10 month old Ragdoll is curious and sits by the door meowing - they havnt seen each other yet. Will keep separate for a while and slowly introduce. He has eaten a few times and absolutely attacks the tube treats - enough I worry he will eat the wrapper so need to figure that out.

    Little kitty is doing so awesome. Made friends with our ragdoll pretty quickly. Lack of hearing doesn't seem to really be a big issue - been using light switches and hand signals so far with good luck.
