The boyfriend is not the only person left speechless from this story, because I am truly unsure how to process the situation between these two people.
Every person should have a clear time frame of how they want their life to look at certain points, and they should be mindful of those time frames when they get into a relationship, get a job, move to a different location, etc. Obviously, no one knows what the future holds, and rarely does anything in life happen according to plan, but I believe that if you have something you really want, you should not settle for it whatsoever.
If you want to get married, for example, you should not wait 10 years for your partner to propose. If it is not right, then why are you still in the relationship?
That is the one thing I didn't understand from this story. OP (original poster) proposed to his girlfriend 10 years into their relationship, and she said no because she thought he waited too long. But, what happens now? Do they break up? Do they continue without getting married? I get that OP messed up by waiting so long, but what is the endgame of being with someone for 10 years only to then refuse their marriage proposal?
