Welcome back ladies and gentlemen of the internet. Sometimes it's better to wait longer to get married these days…to wait until you really see them in every context is important. When things are good, of course everything is working, flowing, and people are their best selves. But what about during the hard times? Are they there for you? Are you two still partners who support each other? Do they change, attack you, guilt you, react against you? Someone's true colors show when they're put in uncomfortable situations, and noticing their true colors is what will make or break a couple.
This Reddit thread is about a couple that's been together for 5 years. It should have been enough time to see someone's true colors, but some people are really that good at hiding it. The boyfriend's mother starts dying. It's tragic, and I would assume in this situation he would want more comfort and support than normal, but it's the opposite. He pushes her away, breaks up with her, then expects her to come back when he's ready. Nope, big red flag.
