Boomer truckie has a melt down

So long story short i drive a ute (pickup truck for you yanks). Its a company car and in order to get it i had to agree to do deliveries and pickups for work. Theres this one customer i make deliveries to that is really slow with unloading. They are a very large distributor and when you go there they have
  • 03
a yard full of trucks waiting to unload. Sometimes you get lucky and wait only 10 minutes. Sometimes you're there for two hours. All truck drivers in the industry hate this one place (and i can see why). Even if you get there when they open at 6am sometimes there is still a line.
  • 04
So this one particular morning i got to work early, loaded the pallet in my ute and left. Got there at 6am on the dot, the moment they opened up their gate and i was the first driver in. Parked my ute in one of the bays and took the paperwork to the

front desk (as is their procedure, you give em the paperwork, they enter it in their computer, give you some more paperwork and a big laminated number and tell you to wait until your number is called). Well while im waiting to hand in my paperwork (the guy
  • 06
who usually takes it hadnt even turned on his computer yet, this was literally the moment they opened so still a tiny bit of a wait while they get started) another truckie comes in. He walks right upt o me and says "i was here first, you should give me your place in line coz i was waiting an hour before you showed up. I saw you pull in"
  • 07
"then why didnt you pull in?" "coz you were faster" (umm okay doesnt make any sense). me: How many pallets are you unloading Him: 8 but it doesnt matter, i was here first.
  • 08
Me: okay you can tell the guy at the desk when its your turn he kept going on and on about how i stole his space in line and he doesnt have time to wait for them to unload the one pallet im carrying. He has important things to do and a busy day blah blah
  • 09
blah. (i should add at this point that it honestly didnt matter. This company has big bays with roller doors for loading/unloading big trucks like his with a pallet jack, small utes like mine theyll unload with a forklift, we litterally had different kinds of vehicles and it wouldnt have slowed him down at all).
  • 10
me: Mate, during this whole interaction you not once said "please", i guarantee if i give you this spot you will not even think of saying "thank you". So again, im here first. If you have a problem with it then tell the guy you were here first when he opens up his desk, he's the one who picks which trucks get unloaded and when.

Boomer kept ranting about how disrespectful kids were blah blah blah (btw im nearly 40 and had a thicker beard than the boomer did, sooo "kid" i am not) so i just gave up. I walked behind
  • 12
him, gently nudged him to where i was standing and said "here now shut the he did not shut the ". Narrator: However i was correct in that no "thank you" was forthcoming.
  • 13
Anyways, shortly after this the guy who sorts the paperwork opened up the lil window next to his desk and took boomer truckies papers and did his thing, gave boomer a number. Boomer says "thank you" to the guy and walks away giving me the stink eye.
  • 14
The kicker? they unloaded my ute almost straight away. When i drove off i saw the boomer still hadnt been called into one of the truck bays (in fact all the roller doors were down so those bays werent even open yet). Gave boomer a wave and honked my horn before i drove off. Lol wonder if ill see the again at some point.
  • 15
Editing to add: btw, most truckies who know this company are also aware of the fact that they dont unload/load on a "first come first serve" basis. They go via urgency, ie if the on your truck is more urgent than the on the truck that arrived an hour
  • 16
before you, theyll unload you before unloading the guy who waited an hour. Totally unfair and i have been by this policy more than once in the past. Which is one of the reasons so
  • 17
many of us hate delivering to/picking up from this place. Now this boomer had definitely been there before so he shoulda also been aware of this fact. But i guess being first in line was important to him

VrilSeeker • 21h ago Gen X A boomer in Australia still driving? The amount of fail is massive, most own their own companies or have retired with several investment properties. His boomer arseholeness and stupidity was so extreme it surpassed the boomer advantage.
