Entitled sister moves into sibling's house and refuses to leave, so her brother-in-law locks up all kitchen items to force her out: 'The cops were called'

You never want to overstay your welcome. It's just awkward for everyone involved, especially when it's family. You may have experienced this situation before, particularly during the holidays when you have to work but have many family members visiting, and everyone expects you to prioritize spending quality time together. While it's nice, dealing with family can be overwhelming, especially when it comes to an entitled sister-in-law.

After going through a bit of a hard time, her sister and brother-in-law allowed her to move in until she could get back on her feet. But she took full advantage of the situation, rearranging her room and hanging up all of her things on the wall. The couple was annoyed, but they let it slide. Later on, the couple announced that they were expecting a baby and had to turn the guest room into a nursery. As a result, they gave her sister two months to find a new place. See the chain of events that sparked the police having to get involved.

    Odd-Phrase5808 . 2d ago And this is why people don't stay for longer than a week! Ever! Nicely insist that their welcome has been overstayed, while you still have rights to make them leave. Glad your petty actions worked, that could've gotten ugly otherwise! Never invite SIL around again, not even for a day. Though I'm sure you've already decided that anyway.

    • _gadget_girl 1d ago Good for you. The best way to get rid of unwanted roommates is to convince them that they will be miserable if they stay. Petty can be way more effective, and much cheaper than legal eviction.
