Some like to position memes as a form of art but if you think about it, it is just as apt to describe them as a sales pitch. They are in an extremely space and time-concentrated bid to vie for your attention in the hopes that you will like them enough to spread them further than their humble origins. As such, we could argue that even the ones that seem aggressive in their presentation are trying to persuade us in some way. It has to be said, it is quite flattering to think that all this internet detritus has the main purpose of trying to make us like it. It's certainly a mindset that could make listlessly scrolling through memes even more satisfying. While they might not all be tailored exactly to your taste, there are pretty much here to be at the service of your entertainment. We've gotta love it.
