Nobody likes an HOA–except, of course, the overinflated, pompous, self-elected members. So when independent homeowners finally claw themselves out of an HOA dictatorship of a neighborhood, the quasiHOA vibes of an unruly neighborhood Karen can certainly rub them the wrong way. That's why the homeowner in our next story decided to get petty when faced with the baseless complaints of an inhumane Karen.
Because u/AnimalEditor works as a vet tech at an animal rescue, he often finds himself bringing work home with him. With precious little birds needing to be hand-fed their meds, what's an animal lover to do? But after he built himself a humble outdoor aviary on his property to house the poor, sick birds who needed 24/7 care, the woman next door awoke from a distant slumber to rain on his whole operation.
As if she were emboldened by some non-existent HOA, she complained incessantly about the bird enclosure, resistant to its inherently altruistic purpose in her neighbor's yard. Finally, her complaints inflamed the vet tech's passion for birds even more, so he decided that he would do whatever he pleased with his property–which included building an even larger, even more obscene bird enclosure to act as an outdoor scullery for the birds he brought home with him.
Take that, Karen!
Because there was no real HOA to answer to, the Karen could do nothing but seethe and wriggle in anger behind her heavily shaded windows, listening to the construction noise of an even more epic "eyesore" next door.
