"[Don't] tell my children how to play in their home and in their pool"

AITA for telling my brother girlfriend to eff off? Not the We've been battling 120 heat where I live over the last week. My brother and his girlfriend came over to use my pool yesterday.

I have 3 children and they are playing in the pool and I see my brother's girlfriend yelling at my kids. I asked her what her problem was and she goes off saying she just payed $1000 for her hair and she doesn't want MY children to jump and splash getting it wet.
  • 04
I told her I paid $100,000 for this pool for my kids to be able to jump and splash it so she can I off about her $1000 hair. She got butthurt and made my bother leave. My wife thinks I could have been nicer but I cannot imagine some telling my children how to play in their home and in their pool.

My brother thinks I was wrong for rubbing my money in her face but I feel like she started it talking about her $1000 hair. My brother thinks I was being insensitive but I said maybe his girlfriend will think twice before talking to other people's kids like that in their own home.

heather20202024 • 2d ago Colo-rectal Surgeon [47] NTA why is she sitting by the pool then??? Also, what kind of hair costs $1000?? Is it a wig? I'd understand if she had a medical condition and was sensitive maybe ...? If not and it's just extensions or whatever... then she can MOVE.

. heather20202024 · 2d ago Colo-rectal Surgeon [47] OP, Everyone saying you waved your money in her face seems to be missing the context that you were replying to someone using money as a reason to not splash her.
  • 09
OP, by replying about the price of the pool, was only calling out the absolute absurdity of that argument. It's satire., i.e., that argument has no legs because I could say this... isn't that silly? NTA, the point really seems to have missed some people.

101037633 · 2d ago Certified Proctologist [24] ΝΤΑ Beggars can't be choosers. Or, don't look a gift horse in the mouth. Both come to mind. Your brother's gf yelled at your kids, for being kids. I'd kick her out, just for that. If she's going to whine about her hair, she can do it well away from your property.

Country-girl7053 • 2d ago NTA. If she didn't want wet hair, get the away from the pool. And if she's stupid enough to pay $1000 for hair then as Forrest says "Stupid is as stupid does." Her extentions can't be that awesome. And if it's a wig, take the thing off. I wouldn't let her back in my house.

atealein 2d ago Craptain [171] NTA, she chose to go to a pool with 1000$ hairdo? Not your problem and not your kids' problem either. That's her misjudgement, not yours.

CptKUSSCryAllTh... Aficionado [15] 2d ago NTA. You were standing up for your children against someone who was being an to children for no reason. She's the grown up, it's not her place, she can move wherever she won't be splashed or she can leave

njdevil956 2d ago . NTA. My rule: don't go on the boat if u don't wanna get wet lol

Jim_Lahey10 · 2d ago I'm right there with you. Don't come to a pool with your fancy hair if you're so worried about getting it wet. Especially don't yell at the kids who live in the home and are enjoying said pool. I would have told her to go herself as well. NTA

sickofdriving007 • 2d ago Pooperintendant [64] NTA. Your house your rules. Doesn't matter if they were splashing her intentionally, who pays 1k for hair and then goes to the pool???

thechaoticstorm 2d ago Enthusiast [6] NTA. She could have asked nicely for them not to splash her, but she went straight to yelling. Your reaction was justified. It is foolish to be near a pool and expect to stay dry. If she was that worried about her hair, she needed to go somewhere else.

NiteStar89 2d ago Could have been less aggressive but tbh she was a guest like why get in a pool if your hair is that important. $1000 hair? he got a girl that's high maintenance

rebekahster · 2d ago Enthusiast [9] NTA, you merely matched her energy. Yelling first gets yelling back. Flaunting money gets flaunting money back. Brother is just annoyed because now she's yelling at him
  • 21
kiwimuz 2d ago NTA. She should not be near a pool if she is concerned about her overpriced hair and definitely not yelling at your kids on your property. Your property, your pool, your rules.

Oddveig37 2d ago • NTA She literally could have avoided that whole thing by simply asking the kids not to splash her, instead of yelling. If they didn't she could have gotten you or your wife and asked you guys to get them to stop.
