Welcome, gossipy gossipers. Sibling favoritism is a hotly debated topic within families. Brothers and sisters can easily get into heated discussions over who is the most beloved. Firstborns, who had to bear the brunt of their parents' early parenting experimentations with discipline and who likely had a lot of expectations set on their shoulders, might feel that the youngest is the favorite. The youngest, who was likely allowed more freedoms and had fewer expectations to live up to as their parents grew lax over the years, might actually feel like the firstborn is the favorite. We don't need to discuss the middle child. In reality, parents love all of their children equally, and they usually have justified and contextual reasons for treating each child differently.
Sometimes, though, the favoritism cannot be denied. In our story today, our protagonist, who has grown independent due to her parents disregarding her all of her life, is asked to pay for her brothers wedding. Her parents, who have coddled her brother since birth, cannot afford the lavish wedding he desires, so they turn to their financially stable daughter for help. Of course, she refuses.
