"They had the audacity demand a doctor's note"
  • 02
My GM came to work with the flu, got me sick now they're requiring a dr note, but they don't provide insurance
  • 03
On top of underpaying us, they don't provide health insurance for anyone but store managers. My general manager came to work with the flu and got me sick, I
  • 04
have now missed 3 days of work and they had the audacity to tell me I need a dr note even though they don't provide insurance and I can't afford to spend $250 at
  • 05
the dr for a note. I told my store manager that I will not be able to get a note and that I would rather work instead of getting a write up. I had a fever
  • 06
so they sent me home anyways and said I wouldn't be getting a write up. Next we get a message in the chat about proper procedure when someone is home sick, and it's very clear that
  • 07
the GM didn't follow this procedure, hence me getting infected with whatever she had. I'm furious at this because if she had followed proper procedures | would have never gotten sick.
  • 08
Then she has the audacity to demand I bring in a note. I'm so tired of this but the job situation where I'm at is abysmal so I'm stuck here unfortunately. They can't keep getting away with this ср.

Quiet Lad idle Ask GM.... "you're requesting a Doctor note for work purposes? I'd be happy to provide. How will work reimburse me for this work requested spending?"
  • 10
Opinionsare A required doctor's note should be a legally mandated business expense. When you get your employer a doctor's note, the company will be required to compensate you for the costs.
  • 11
johnnyvlad Requiring a Dr note is such an asinine policy. Forcing people to seek medical attention when they dont need it is wasteful. Besides, the note doesn't prove a thing. When's the last
  • 12
time you heard of a doctor refusing to write one because they dont think you're really sick? Fortunately, my job did away with notes unless you're out for more than 3 days. Now they have a no fault system where
  • 13
you get points for missing work no matter what the reason is. Whether your kid is sick, school is closed, whether you're literally green and puking, whether your car breaks down or your house burns down, you get a
  • 14
point. And when you get 10 points the system automatically begins the termination process and you're gone. What a great way to ensure your team is motivated and efficient
  • 15
KleshawnMontegue Not sure what state you are in. I'd look up your workers comp regulations.
  • 16
Catch MelfYouCan09 2 things....1 being that if the federal gov doesn't legally require people to have health insurance then employers can't require a dr note for an absence to be excused. Secondly
  • 17
if the company requires a dr note as per policy then the act is then federally compensatable and they have to pay for your visit/ co pays/ mileage/ RXs etc.
  • 18
Lastly... get you, what I call a "ſ you" Dr note. Every year at your annual Dr appt get your Dr to sign this out something similar..... To whom it may concern, • Name- is under my care as I am their primary physics and am them regularly.

Please respect the fact that they are human and humans are susceptible to viruses and illnesses. That being said I treat them like the adult they are and expect them to know when they simply need rest or need to be seen by their medical professional team.
  • 20
I do not consent to having my schedule and my time compromised (read wasted) by individuals (read your company policies) who simply need a day to rest in order to feel competent to perform the essential functions of their role. They do not

need a Dr visit for every single thing that may or may not impact their ability to work. Therefore I am hereby excusing them for any illness or virus that simply requires rest. This excuse is valid from -date- to -1yr later date-.

I do not consent to having my waiting room, my patients, or myself exposed to unknown illnesses and viruses that simply need rest in which to recover as i have responsibilities and work to perform too, that may be impacted by your

And always remember that the above arguments are contingent on finding an employment lawyer WILLING to argue the case on your behalf AND at-will employment is a k 1 policy.

DRFilz522 I am a doctor of education, Ph. D. so I can write a Doctors note for you...
  • 27
Aggressivenicegirl Just make your own note. Pretty sure they aren't gonna call the doctor to verify. Give no specifics just say that you were ill, could not work for "x days".
