Kindhearted Human Finds Abandoned Egg and Hatches it, the Adorable Duckling Adopts Him as His "Mother" and Shows His Wholesome Life Raising His Fluffy Feathery Son (Video)

We love calling ourselves our pets' 'Moms'. Although we may not have physically birthed them, we might as well have with all of the money, time, and energy we put into them (which we, of course, receive lots of cuddles and unconditional love as payment, so it is 100% worth it). However, it's a bit different when you have a duckling as a pet, and this is because ducklings "imprint" on the first thing they see, and whatever that is, it becomes its mother. So when a kindhearted hooman found an abandoned egg and decided to hatch it on his own, the adorable duckling that came out literally believed that he was his mother.

Meet 'Spike', the delightful duckling that is growing up with his hooman 'mother' and loving every second of it.     Just imagine having this tiny little ball of fluff following you around everywhere, it must be the cutest thing ever. Although, we're sure it's not all rainbows and butterflies as every child, no matter how pawsitively adorable, is still a lot of work.

    We hatched eggs when we were in 1st grade, although they were chicken eggs. We had an incubator in the middle of the classroom, and we patiently waited for them to hatch, each day getting more and more excited. When they finally did, it was the cutest thing ever!

    riyadhk ❤ Intentionally no music so you can enjoy the sweet, sweet symphony of chirps from the little legend. Each day he learns the steps and order of the routine and anticipates when the water, food and mirrors come. Ducks are SO smart!! And have as much personality as any dog or cat I've known. Who knew?

    I also learned that as few as 10-30% of wild ducklings make it to adulthood. Those are the ones with a mother. I'm at maths, but that means Spike is a literal miracle. His chances must have been near 0% even after I found the egg. I'm not religious at all but words fail me when trying to describe it.. Actually, nature is my form of worship and spirituality.

    riyadhk ⭑For those asking, the water is intentionally shallow and small. His oil gland still isn't producing on its own and he struggles to float so to be cautious and not risk drowning I'm keeping it low for another week or two before testing him in deeper water while supervised :)

    assortedkingston I hope you keep him!! I have a duck that I raised from a new hatchling. I have held and cuddled that duck everyday, and 2 years later he LOVES to be held and snuggled! They are the sweetest things ever!
