4 years ago I had a house built in a new development less than half an hour outside of my home town. At first it was a dream come true. I was excited to be a new home owner. But shortly after moving in I started to

become aware of my next door neighbors. They would constantly be throwing parties well into the AM hours. Their lawn would be covered in trash the next day and it would blow all around the neighborhood. At first I though maybe they're just throwing

some housewarming get togethers to get settled in, so I gave them some slack and let it slide. Unfortunately this was only the beginning. 3-4 days out of the week there would be excessive noise late into the night coming from that house. By this time I've been calling the cops so

much when they pick up they just say they're on the way. I've submitted countless HOA complains and yet this still keeps happening. On one specific occasion they were throwing a children's birthday party and they were using a PA system in their back yard. Now, I don't live out in

the country, in fact we're in the city limits and the houses are quite close to each other. Not to mention the back yards aren't even that big. Why on Earth would these people need a PA system of all things? Well the

noise was absolutely unbearable and this time it was the entire street that called in noise complaints. When the cops arrived and were talking to the owners of the noise house, they straight up told the cop "I don't care". After this incident I filed 1

more HOA complain threatening to take legal action against their company unless they did something about this. And as if I said the magic words, they got fined and there hasn't been a party there since. Now, on to the petty revenge:

The guy next door is a construction worker and has a brutal weekday schedule. Weekends are his time to relax. For the past 4 years, every Saturday I've been mowing my lawn at 6:00 AM, starting on his

side. Sometimes I just sit there and chill on my phone for about 10 minutes while the mower is running right outside his bedroom window. Saturday mornings are my favorite time of the week. :)

b-e-r-n • 8h ago A few years ago, people moved into an upstairs flat opposite my house. While they were moving in the loud music started, windows open. Everyday, every single day the same, even neighbours 3 doors down were complaining to me.
  • 13
After about 3 weeks I'd had enough so took my hose and sprayed water straight in through the open window. The music stopped, hopefully I'd blown their speakers or amp or whatever. I was expecting a brawl and ready for it..I'm capable...nothing. They moved out that weekend. Job done.

Practical-Rule-8255 • 6h ago We used to have this problem years ago. we had one neighbor a block away that would blast music into the early morning hours.
  • 15
Then one year it just stopped. apparently some broke into their garage and stole there sound system. I despise thievery, but man did the perps help the neighborhood

LGAflyer 6h ago This is why I learned how to pick locks! Years ago next door neighbor in apartment would play absurdly loud music at all hours. Cops called, knock on door, guy doesn't answer so cops leave, nothing they can do.

I figured out the apartments electric meters were in a locked closet at the end of the hall. Learned how to pick that lock and turned his power off. Would turn it back on after a few hours. Dude never did figure it out.

Beyond_The_Pale_61 • 10h ago I don't blame you, but I find it odd there is no provision to prohibit lawn mowing before 7:00 am as a part of a noise ordinance. I have lived in three different towns, in two different states and all three prohibited the use of lawn care equipment before 7:00 am.

fursty_ferret .7h ago It's funny you mention this. Shortly after I moved into my new place my neighbour started mowing his lawn at 6am at the weekends. Anyway, we got our revenge by hiring a PA system for our kids' birthday party.

Zealousideal_Fail946 • 10h ago Our suburb in Ohio still has in the books no lawn equipment before 10 am on Sunday. Hasn't been enforced in years but, if the right person calls...

redditorial_comment • 7h ago That is how i trained my neighbors 2 doors up to go easy on the partys. If they had a loud party past a reasonable time. The next morning was yardwork for me. Lotsa noisy yardwork. Chainsaws and all. This year they been pretty good. My yard is looking shaggy i suppose i ought to mow it at reasonable time of course.

. Honest Earnie • 7h ago I like this for the most part, but you are probably upsetting the other nearby houses as well. The hard part of getting revenge on noisy neighbours is not aggravating the nearby neighbours who have already put up with enough noise from the idiot target of revenge.
