‘Sorry this is an inconvenience for you’: Entitled resident refuses to remove bike from narrow communal hallway, neighbor forces her hand by turning to property manager

Some people truly believe that the world revolves around them. They think no rules apply to them, and that everyone else should do everything just to make sure they are happy. Surely we can all agree that these types of people are some of the worst, and watching them get what they deserve is wholeheartedly satisfying. 

When this entitled neighbor got what she deserved, I had to physically stop myself from cheering out loud, which I am sure would have made the original poster (OP) pretty happy with themselves. This story began when OP grew tired of their neighbor storing her bike in their narrow communal hallway in Brooklyn. Yet OP decided to try and reach a middle ground with that neighbor, and find somewhere else they can store the bike. In a series of text exchanges between the two, which OP later shared on Reddit, they offered the neighbor many solutions, all of which she refused. 

Eventually, OP realized the only solution was to turn to their property management, and in a later update, confirmed that management forced the neighbor to remove their bike (hurray!).

    They won't: • store bike on the bottom floor where there is more room • store bike outside with a lock (fear of theft) • put the bike in their apartment (no space) . buy a wall mount (no money) • let me spot them $ for the mount (not comfortable)

    I'm a large guy. Every day I scoot past this bike and if I have groceries/packages/coats then there's no getting around it; we have to bang the bike up as we scoot on by.

    I get it bike storage is tricky. But it's not on me to figure out. The bike is obtrusive and 100% violates fire code. I emailed property management about it today, two weeks after the post it's. Now the neighbor is calling

    + 2:10 e pe one less flight for you I'm sorry it's a bit of an inconvenience for you, hmm. I'll think about a potential compromise, but please understand I don't have a lot of flexibility, there really isn't much space for it inside my unit. As far as the fire code, those bikes have been locked in the hallway for over 2 years and building management hasn't ever made a problem of it. I'm nervous about putting it downstairs because I can't lock it down there. And there is no part of this equation
