Sister Refuses to Stop Feeding Her Brother’s Cat Vegan Food, He Gives Her an Ultimatum: Stop or Leave, and She Makes Him Out to Be the Villain

When it comes to cats and family… there are always challenges. Hey, the Cat Distribution System only provides the cat to one human usually, so the rest of the humans in the house simply have to deal with it. Now, you always want things to end up well. And we have seen so many times dads who hated cats falling in love with them and moms who didn't like cats suddenly having a soft spot for them once the adopted kitty shows them affection. 

Usually, it's just a matter of time. Usually, when there is respect toward the cat and a desire for the cat to accept you, if you wait long enough, the kitty will warm up to you. But not here. Not in today's story. In this case, there was no respect for the kitty, no understanding, and seemingly, no desire for love from the kitty. And although usually, we want to give people the benefit of the doubt, this sister is not getting it from us this time.

    Refusing to stop is insane. If she didn't know… forgivable. If she thought she was doing the right thing… fine. But to refuse to stop after being told over and over that it is bad for the cat… there would be a limit to our patience too.

    Okay, buckle up, everyone. I (29M) have a beautiful cat named Whiskers. He's been my partner in crime for over 8 years, and I love him more than anything in the world. Recently, my sister (25F) moved in with me temporarily while she looked for a new job and apartment because of a rough breakup. No biggie, right? Family helps family.

    And it's even worse than that. Because it was calculated. What she did was done not for the cat's benefit but for its detriment. She wanted to help the world and didn't care that she might be hurting an innocent little kitty. We are on your side, cat owner, you did the right thing by giving her this ultimatum.

    Here's the problem: my sister has decided that she is a "cat whisperer" and has taken it upon herself to start feeding Whiskers vegan cat food because she thinks "it's better for his health and the planet."

    First of all, Whiskers is a straight-up carnivore; we all know cats need meat! I've told her repeatedly that it's not healthy for him, and he literally only wants to eat the chicken-flavored treats I buy him. But she just smirks and tells me I'm "being close- minded."

I told her she had two options: stop this insanity or get out. She chose option two, and now she's saying I'm heartless for kicking her out over "a cat's diet."

You gave her 2 options. 1# respect your wishes, or 2# get out. She chose the latter, rather than admit to her wrongdoing and stop crossing your boundaries.

She chose to leave, and is now playing the victim. There is no way you are the A H in this situation. And good on you for making sure Whiskers has the best care/life.
