'I gave him an ultimatum': Employee refuses to drive messy co-worker anymore, co-worker gets fired for chronic lateness and blames former carpool buddy
When one employee offered his younger, well-liked coworker a ride to work, he thought he was just doing a small favor. But things took a turn when his passenger started showing up every day with food and drinks, leaving wrappers, cans, and crumbs all over the car. The driver, a self-admitted neat freak, tried to handle it politely, repeatedly asking his coworker to clean up after himself. Despite multiple promises, the mess only grew, with empty cans and wrappers piling up, even attracting ants into the car.
Finally, he gave his coworker an ultimatum: respect his car or find another ride. But the messy coworker didn't take it seriously, so the driver cut off the free rides altogether. That's when karma hit. The young coworker, now without a consistent ride, began racking up tardies and was soon fired for his chronic lateness. Instead of taking accountability, he blamed his former carpool buddy.
