Woman pretended she was single for almost 10 years, my coworker outed her
  • 03
I have a coworker/friend in another department that was super interested in this woman he worked with and always mentioned her to me and what she's wearing that day etc. I
  • 04
finally said, just ask her out, what are you waiting for? Especially since she seemed to reciprocate the feelings of attraction. He said he couldn't quite put his finger on it, but he definitely felt like she was lying about being single.
  • 05
When I asked him why, he said first of all she has shown me pictures of the gigantic house she just bought and on her salary, there's just no way she was able to afford that alone. But she's
  • 06
always bragging and letting everyone know about the various renovation updates and expensive new furniture she has bought. He said she is divorced, so I suggested maybe she got a nice divorce settlement. Again, he said he just doubts that.
  • 07
Something seemed off. He's worked with this woman for almost 10 years and she's consistently maintained she's single that entire time, but dressed extremely nice, always showing off new jewelry, very nice new SUV, and saying stuff like "it's nice being a single woman that can spoil herself".

So, the first thing I thought of was, if she just bought a new house, check the property valuation, it is public record- at least where I live- so just look her up and see who owns the house with her. Sure enough, he looked
  • 09
her up and it was her and a mans name on the house. When he looked up the man's social media page it was nothing but pictures of him and the woman! And scrolling down his page revealed they had been together 16 years,

at the very least. He also had pictures of the new house he bought FOR HER and said he loved to spoil his princess. Yet my male coworker said she was always making comments about "going home to her big lovely empty house and her cats" or "I'll never get in another relationship, I'm happy single".

As far as her social media, not only was she not even friends with the boyfriend online, she had zero pictures of him up. Only pictures of herself and even the same pictures the boyfriend of 16 years had on his page, but with him cropped out! It's baffling why some people hide or omit entire
  • 12
pieces of their life. And how the boyfriend didn't think that was weird of her. He had worked with this woman for almost 10 years and she flirted with him like crazy. She even knew that he absolutely loved heels and black
  • 13
pantyhose on women, so she'd oblige and wear them to work. Almost like to tease him or something. She let him buy her lunch constantly and other gifts and just seemed to relish the attention from a younger man.
  • 14
They had even gone to the movies together and dinner (he always paid) after work a few times and she allowed my coworker to rub her leg during the movie. She was in her mid forties and my male coworker was 28 at the time, for more context.

Well, not saying this is right, but my friend got so mad about her lying and pretending she's single all while this guy she's living with is totally clueless, that he ended up finding the guy's cellphone number and sent him an anonymous message using a spoof app letting him know that
  • 16
she tells all of her coworkers that she's single and has been doing so for years, tells them she bought that huge house herself,
  • 17
has never once mentioned his existence to anyone at work, and that she is extremely flirty and inappropriate with her male coworkers.
  • 18
Apparently, she came into work the next day raging about it and accusing everyone in the office of "messing with her personal life"
  • 19
and saying that someone had "called my man friend and told him lies". So he said she still refused to acknowledge the guy as her boyfriend! And everyone in the office, including the woman's best friend, was stunned and trying to figure out why she was
  • 20
so mad. She raged so badly that she went to HR and said someone in her office had to have used work computers to access her personnel file because how else did they get her "man friend's" number and she wants everyone's computer searched.
  • 21
So my coworker/friend said they all had to go sit in a conference room for a full day while this was all investigated. Obviously, nothing was found. Then the woman demanded to see all of her coworkers texts, which is when HR finally told her she needs to drop this and handle it
  • 22
on her own time. She did finally tell all of these people that she's in a relationship, but it's none of their business, and they were all stunned and ended up thinking she was really weird and kind of bat crazy for her prior years long story that she was single, and now she's suddenly raging because someone outed her to her long term boyfriend.
  • 23
Anyway, she stayed there another month and then quit her job over all of that. He said she quit talking to everyone in the office and stayed on the phone with her boyfriend all day talking loudly about crazy, jealous, backstabbing liars in the office that can't afford a nice home like hers in the weeks before she quit.
  • 24
Yes, it was petty of my guy friend/coworker to tell on her out of spite and he probably could have got into major trouble with HR if anyone had known or been able to prove it was him that did that, but it's also super weird to have a whole secret life that your partner doesn't know about.

TLDR: my male coworker had a crush on his female coworker that lied for almost 10 years claiming she's single, only to find out she was in a 16 year committed relationship. She quit her job after being outed.
