I'm was rejected for a job I qualify for so I used a new email and immediately moved forward in the process??
  • 03
Last month, I completed an interview with Capital One and they assured me I was a great fit for the position, however, I didn't get the job. I received the
  • 04
rejection email only after I followed up for a status update & also received an email from a manager stating to keep applying because they like my background. So I've continued applying.
  • 05
However, these last couple of weeks I've been applying, I haven't been receiving the assessments to complete (& hopefully move forward in the
  • 06
hiring process). I just keep getting rejected. So I decided to test something. I created a new email + account w/ the company and reapplied to
  • 07
a job that I meet ALL qualifications. This time, I received the assessment IMMEDIATELY after submitting the application. I also saw it was
  • 08
from the recruiter that interviewed me for the previous position in October. Has anyone else experienced this too? Having to create a whole
  • 09
new account or email address and finally moving along in the interview process? Lastly, has anyone ever interviewed with the same
  • 10
recruiter before? Was it awkward or did they remember you and continue on with the process like a professional?

    • CareerCoach Marcy 13h ago • Was there something about your email that was unprofessional or strange? It's weird that you used a new email address and received the assessments. And yes, it has happened to me
  • 12
before. When you're rejected in an ATS, it's believed you don't meet requirements, your formatting got rejected by the ATS, or you e been blacklisted for applying previously for the same reasons. If you change
  • 13
your email address and make a few edits to your résumé, the ATS sees you as a new applicant.

When I got rejected from the job back in October, I followed up with the recruiter for a status update & she never responded. I only received a rejection email + an email from a manager to
  • 16
keep applying (yet I still get rejected for things that fit the job I previous applied for). I just don't know if they really did blacklist me?? Maybe a possibility?

Asleep Ad_3702 OP 13h ago • Would you recommend i withdraw? During my interview last month, I told the recruiter & managers I want to work for the company but if this really will be a negative, maybe i should withdraw and just accept it.

MrBeanDaddy86 12h ago. No, you didn't lie about anything. Just made a new account. They don't need to know why. If it works it works. I don't really see how this would backfire, exactly. And there's 0 downside for you since you weren't making any headway with them anyways.

  • 21
separate email address to keep all communications regarding job applications separate from your primary address, to make sure job-related mail doesn't get buried in your inbox. I recently applied to a job directly on an employer's website and was notified that I met
  • 22
the minimum qualifications, but later received email saying they had chosen a more qualified candidate. I later saw the exact same job on Indeed, and applied through the Indeed portal. I got an email back from the employer telling me that I had already applied for that position, so I
  • 23
followed up to let them know I wasn't trying to apply a 2nd time, but since the Indeed posting came AFTER they informed me they'd already filled the position, I assumed this was a 2nd posting.

kittenofd00m • 12h ago Sometimes there are blacklist issues with email servers that could have been affecting your previous email address. I am a network admin and your friend. I advise you to do just what you did to get
  • 25
around such issues. If they ask tell them that an admin friend of yours (me) suggested you use a different email address to see if there were email issues, possibly related to a blacklist, that were interfering with your getting email. So you did, and it worked.

Asleep Ad_3702 OP • 5h ago • Thank you! With my old email, I wasn't even receiving the confirmation email where it says "thank you for applying.. we look forward to receiving your application" etc etc. But when I used my new one, I received BOTH confirmation & assessment.
