We just got married yesterday- and we spent $60,000 on our wedding with a guest count of 270. We worked our butts off and pushed so many bills, rent, ect, only taking out a loan of $4,000 (from my mom and is demanding back by the end of this month). We received $3000 cash and checks TOTAL from cards only. We are like freaking out and just really devastated. Because we would've thought we would at least got like 10,000. Lowest Card amount was $10. Has this happened to anyone else and how did you

Blonde Musings @musings_blonde Replying to @kaylajohnsonatl Follow That equates to $11 a guest, which is low, but you still need to throw a wedding you can afford in the first place. Also, it's acceptable for guests to mail a gifts after the wedding, so maybe wait a few weeks before slamming your friends & family on the internet

Marissa Jensen @M_Jensen23.1d Replying to @kaylajohnsonatl A $60,000 wedding is luxurious I don't think I'd spend close to that much even if I splurged on every detail I'd like to have. Whyyyy would you spend more than you can? Budgeting sks but if you can't handle that wit maturity then are you even ready to be married?

Mysterious Fizz @treesonstumps. 1d Replying to @kaylajohnsonatl That would've been a decent down payment on a house.

DianeLily @Diane Lily32 1d @DianeLily32.1d Replying to @kaylajohnsonatl I just don't understand why anyone would spend that kind of money on a wedding. That's a down payment on a house. It's about the marriage not about the wedding. Like always our society has everything upside down.

. Ave Moriah @moriah_bridges 12h Replying to @kaylajohnsonatl They shouldn't have taken out loans or expected to recoup $60k (or anything close), but it's also important to be considerate when giving a wedding gift. You should at least cover the cost of your meal. $10 is actually insulting.

Dr. Syed Haider @DrSyed Haider Replying to @kaylajohnsonatl Subscribe This culture seems stupid. Pay for your own stuff. Throw a party if you can afford it. If you can't afford a big party then have a small one. If people complain explain you're not filthy rich. If you expect your guests to pull their own weight then just explicitly crowdfund it from the beginning.

constans @constans 22h It wasn't until I moved to NYC and lived here for a few years that I realized the reason other people seemed to be living better than me was because they were just really really bad with money.

Tasha Williams @riseUPwoman. 12h i'm sorry but if you have $60k to spend on a wedding but somehow no money for your honeymoon, you don't need my little wedding gift, You need a financial advisor.

@selegendaryy • 13h sorry but if you want to spend way out of budget for your wedding then that's on you and not the guests??? why should anyone else be responsible for funding your day
