Welcome, anime fans and stans. The year is 2001. You are eleven years old. All day you have one thing on your mind: Dragon Ball. When you wake up to brush your teeth, you steal an unholy amount of your older brother's hair gel to make your hair stand up in exaggerated spikes. At school, you trace over the cardboard packaging of a Goku action figure instead of paying attention in math class. In art class, your teacher instructs the class to make a self portrait. Having just practiced tracing anime-style line art, you draw yourself a super saiyan mid-powerup, although the result looks more like a mangy cat caught on fire. At lunch, you pretend your turkey sandwich is somehow a bowl of ramen, and you inhale it with same gusto as Goku would. When you finally get home, you breeze through your homework to finally catch the next episode of Dragon Ball on Cartoon Network's Toonami.
